Caribbean Trips & Treks

Not everyone goes to the Caribbean for the brilliant sailing, diving and fishing. Some go for the Island Adventure.

Here we list various non-aqua excursions you might wish to experience on your next holiday in the Tropics.

Walking Club of Bermuda

Welcome to the website of the Walking Club of Bermuda. We invite you to join us on our free weekly walk. All are welcome and we encourage visitors.

We walk for the exercise, the good company and the fun of it while enjoying the beauty of the island.

Since 1991, the Walking Club of Bermuda has had a weekly Sunday tradition of walking six miles at 7 a.m.

Are they all crazy? Why walk so early? Well, in the summer it gets too hot when you start later, and the road traffic gets busy - which is not conducive to a pleasant group walk.

Mostly they try to keep off the beaten track, using the Railway Trail and Tribe Roads and smaller side roads.

If you join them, you'll find a hardy band of stalwarts who enjoy getting their exercise in the company of a diverse group composed of young and old, black and white, fast and slow, Bermudians, visitors, long- and short-term residents.

You could find yourself striding next to and chatting with a postmaster general, insurance executive, director of the Bermuda National Gallery, plumber, teacher or travel agent. The common factor is they all believe it's more fun to exercise together, and they love enjoying the beauty of the island while doing it.

And yes, as their unofficial motto will attest: They walk for food. Quite often visitors may find themselves invited to a local home afterwards for potluck or a Bermuda codfish breakfast.

Pirates of the Caribbean Canopy Tortuga

Think diving is exciting? The longest Zip lines in the Americas are here on Roatan at Pirates of the Caribbean Canopy. Experience the thrill and birds eye view of both sides of Roatan while zipping through the air on our dual zip lines. Just relax, enjoy the ride and take pictures.

Pirates of the Caribbean Canopy and Tours are a family operated business that is located in the safest environment right next to their home. Owners, Irwin and Valjean Dixon; have been operating their zipline since 2006 and have been offering Island tours ever since.

Valjean is the fifth generation from her ancestor Governor Uwins Elwin that was sent by Queen Victoria to govern the Islands while under British rule and before being traded for British Honduras now known as Belize. Irwin and Valjean were born and raised in Roatan and know more than anyone about the island and what it was like before it became a tourist stop. We ensure English speaking tour guides that are also native to Roatan and know the history of the island.

Our guides are willing and happy to share the history of their island and country and since they have lived on the island all their lives they know and appreciate the island best. All our guides are well acquainted with scenic places to stop and take photos or souvenir shopping and if you want to experience the savory island cuisine, our guides will take you to the best restaurants for some delicious island food.

Our island's wild life is typically visible while driving through the green foliage Roatan is known for and it is not uncommon to see iguanas or guatuzas (island rabbit) cross the road right in front of your eyes. Also, please feel free to stop by the Pirates of the Caribbean Canopy to meet Pancho the friendly monkey and all our staff who are happy to assist you in any way.
